System Engineer IV (Planned Position)

MicroHealth is seeking a System Engineer IV to support our client and team. As a System Engineer supporting the Defense Health Agency (DHA) designated to support requirements that cross all telecommunications activities. This resource shall have subject matter expertise in (Unified Critical Telecommunication Systems) such as nurse call, middleware transport, pocket pagers, and public address systems that intra-communicate supporting urgent and emergent staff within the facility at the Defense Health Headquarters (DHHQ) in Fort Sam Houston, TX.

**This is a Planned Position.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the engineering, installation, implementation, maintenance, configuration, and integrity of information systems for clients.
  • Coordinates with architecture and evaluate new and emerging network technologies and make recommendations for selection of these products.
  • Implement and design cloud-based virtual infrastructure to include app services, virtual machines, and establish VPN connections back to on-premises infrastructure.
  • Architect, deploy, and manage enterprise-level Windows server and Virtualization solutions in a DOD Healthcare environment.
  • Implement virtual infrastructure from storage, switch, servers, power requirements and related hypervisor installations.
  • Oversees and participates in the design, testing, upgrade and integration of new or existing infrastructure platforms in accordance to the organization’s business requirements.
  • Documents all aspects of the engineering process as it relates to build and configuration, testing, and deployment of infrastructure platforms.
  • Coordinates changes such as implementation of new infrastructure platforms, upgrades or version increments to existing platforms with system administrators and stakeholders.
  • Plans, coordinates, and implements security measures to safeguard infrastructure platforms.
  • Performs infrastructure platform modeling, analysis, and planning.
  • Coordinates with architecture and evaluate new and emerging infrastructure platform technologies and make recommendations for selection of these products.
  • Assists system administrators with complex troubleshooting issues and if needed coordinates vendor engagements to assist in troubleshooting efforts.
  • May provide day-to-day operational or administrative duties for deployed infrastructure platforms in lab or production environments.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues.
  • Design, implement, and maintain unified critical telecommunication systems

Qualifications:
  • Education: Master’s degree and/or equivalency.
  • Fifteen (15) years of experience architecting, deploying, and managing enterprise level Windows Server and Virtualization solutions from the planning to the sustainment phase in a DOD healthcare environment.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in the enterprise level design and deployment of technologies such as Windows Server Operating Systems (2016,2019, 2022), Storage Area Networks (SAN), VMware vSphere, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, Citrix XenServer, Internet Information Services (IIS), Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Active Directory Domain Services, and Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience implementing and sustaining security solutions and requirements in a DOD environment such as DOD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), Microsoft Group Policy, Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS), Risk Management Framework (RMF), Splunk, Trellix Endpoint Security System (ESS).
  • Implementing Citrix XenApp 5.0 for Windows Server 2008.
  • Advanced Administration for Citrix XenApp 5.0 for Windows Server.
  • Microsoft PowerShell for the IT Administrator.
  • Microsoft Azure Administrator.
  • VMware vSphere: Install, Configure, and Manage.
  • Microsoft Azure: Infrastructure as a service.
  • DISA ACAS Version 5.3.
  • McAfee Endpoint Security Solutions Administrator/Advanced Administrator (201/301).
  • Dell Compellent Storage Center Advanced Administrator.
